Howdy, Franchise Owners,
NFL Records were the focus this week. Jason Elam booted a 63 yard field goal, and that effort helped carry Craig's Jaguars past Bill's Hornets, 79-51. One of the other record men this week was Jerry Rice, whose efforts helped Tony's Warlocks past Shawn's Lone Gunmen 97-71.
It was another low scoring week in the SFFL, but the 37 points for leading receiver Joey Galloway pushed Thom's Phantoms past the Banks' Robbers with the high score of the week, 123-102. Congratulations also go out to Brian's Buckheads, making Dean sweat a little while watching the Monday night game, even though the title in the Premier matchup goes to Dean's Orcas.
Dennis' Wolverines handed the Wizards their fifth loss in a row, 116 to 114. Monday Night was kind to Dennis, handing him 19 points and the victory. The other longest streaks are the Phantoms winning six straight since opening 0-2, and the Orcas have won eight straight (naturally).
Speaking of streaks, Commisioner Dean suggested a list of the non-divisional sweepers (i.e. a win in week 3 and one other time). Dean swept Brian, Thom swept Tony, Craig swept Bill, and Jeff split with Dennis. Upcoming, the Lone Gunmen play the Mariners next week, the Robbers play the Ospreys in week 14.
Divisional Matchups return in this last week of byes (Chicago and San Diego). Those teams not playing divisional games will generally play against the other division in the same Conference, finally giving the beleagured Spokane conference a chance to go above .500 and gain a respectable showing for the playoffs.
Now that we are in the second half of the season, I am starting to measure for some fo the various additional prizes the SFFL hands out. So far, the toughest schedule (the most "Points Against") prize belongs to the 4-4 Tony's Warlocks, this despite having the second highest "Points For" total. Dean's Orcas have the highest "Points For", as would be expected. Another chart I created shows the strongest and the Steadiest teams this season, by looking at the most "Points For" in any week and the least "Points For" in any week. See if you agree.

Howdy, Franchise Owners,
This page marks the end of the 1998 SFFL season. Congratulations go out to Emmitt Smith, who broke a touchdown record. Unfortunately, Emmitt's performance and those two touchdowns were not quite enough for the Buckheads, who lost the Superbowl to Thom's Phantoms 113-92. Since there are no players for either starting team in the Monday Night game, this score is final.
The Phantoms picked up good performances from Vinny Testaverde (4 touchdowns) and Seattle stud Ricky Watters, who actually threw for one touchdown and rushed for another. In an ironic twist, the two superbowl contenders actually played defenses from the same Week 17 game -- NY Giants 7, Philadelphia Eagles 0. This marks the Phantoms third superbowl win in five years.
Next order of business -- where's the Superbowl Party? Or we could have a Pro-bowl party, or something else -- any suggestions? I would like to take a stand on saying it is good to get together with you guys at least one more time during the year, even if Shawn and Bill can't make it. And I'm not just saying that because I won the Superbowl...
